Kamryn & Adele were best friends for many years, since college. Kamryn was about to get married to her fiance when she accidentally found out that Tegan, Adele's child & her godchild, was the daughter of Adele & Nate, Ryn's fiance. They had sex without emotions, plain lust. She was so agitated she cancelled off the wedding & moved to another place, swearing that she'd never meet them again. But one day she received a letter from Adele, saying that she was very ill with leukemia, & would like to meet her for the last time. Ryn went to visit Del, to find that she wanted her to adopt five-year-old Tegan after she died. But in order to adopt Tegan, she had to get Nate to sign the papers, as he was the only surviving parent of Tegan, which was indeed the last thing that she'd wanna do - to meet him. Besides, she was a Black woman wanting to adopt a White child. Here & there, she met Luke who was her new boss, & they fell in love & Tegan liked Luke & regarded him as a best friend, a "daddy". But Nate reappeared, wanting to get back to her, & he used Tegan as an excuse. Somehow or rather, Luke didn't like it & went back to America. Later on Ryn received the news that he'd married Nicole, his ex. Ending was that Nate signed the paper & Tegan was officially Ryn's daughter, while Luke came back telling Ryn that he still loved her, that his job & marriage in America was screwed. There, happily ever after.
